Spanish School

Spanish School

This family owned and operated school, authorized by INGUAT and the Ministry of Education, provides a warm atmosphere and intensive Spanish immersion.

Why ...
            CBA

What makes CBA different from other language schools?

What most distinguishes us is the warm, relaxed atmosphere at our school and our involvement in the local community. We are commited to providing a high quality education in Spanish and a rich cultural immersion experience to every student. We are a non-lucrative organization; all profits (10% of your tuition) are used to fund social projects. The owners of CBA have founded succesful development projects, such as Nucleos Familiares, which provides educational materials to seventy children who otherwise would do agricultural work rather than attending school. Furthermore, CBA has numerous contacts at a variety of non-profit organizations. We work hard to connect you with volunteer opportunities that match your talents and interests.

The final aspect that distinguishes us from other schools is the rigorous training our teachers have recieved. We require our teachers to pass an exam in which they must have an expert understanding of not only Spanish grammar but of Guatemalan history, politics, literature, tourism and indigenous culture as well. Our objective is to provide you with a holistic education in which you will learn excellent Spanish while learning about the country you are visiting.

We provide the following:

Intensive Spanish courses taught by experienced, univesity trained teachers.
One - on - one instruction, 4, 5 or 6 hours daily, Monday - Friday.
Authorized by INGUAT & MINISTRY OF EDUCATION.
Home stay with middle class Guatemalan families.
Specialized languages course for health workers and other specific interests.
Maya languages courses available.
Opportunities to volunteer in the community.
Parties and potlucks!
Round table discussions on history, politics, religion and culture.
Free Internet and Wi-Fi
Fun Trips in the afternoons to natural hot water springs, local markets, Indigenous villages and much more.

We are proud of our commitment to our community and encourage you to join us!

CBA is directed jointly by the administrative personnel and the teachers. Each month the team comes together to discuss the state of affairs at the school. Suggestions are brought forth and improvements are continually being made. We believe that open communication is essential for the relaxed and friendly atmosphere at CBA and for conserving the professionalism of our group
