Human Rights in Guatemala


Human Rights

Are the powers, priveleges and freedoms enjoyed by a person arising from their dignity, the States and laws that govern these rights are obliged to recognize, disseminate, protect and safeguard these rights so that they will not be violated. All people, regardless of their age, relegion, sex or social status, enjoy these rights, which are essential for the development of each individual person. 

Areas of work of auxiliary.

As part of the institutional strengthening in terms of efficiency and control, branch offices have been grouped into geographical regions. The functions are still divided into four areas to visualize processes and assess their achievements through regional and national readings that build social indicators. 

Area of Law Enforcement.

Involves the process of consulting, support and assistence in processing remote field information from receipt of the complain until the final resolution. Auxilary direcly involves - departemental, regional, municipal or mobile – the officer, the investigator, as apropriate, the coordinator of woman.
The functions are carried out under the mystique of teamwork and a service model based on treating victimology, and since this aproach had been able to implement a new model of care to the complaint and the proceeding of cases, this area has been of great importance to the role of the Information Technology Unit, whose support has been implemented in a database that allows recording and internal control in cases. 

Policy Enforcement Area. 

La Unidad de Incidencia and the Public Policy has several advisers and policy enforment officials, that cover different regions of the country and maintain presence in the Auxiliary Departments.
They observed the impact from local level of encouraging citizens participation in social, political and economic areas as good, having more shared responsibility towards the development of the population in conditions of equity and social justice. 
This incidence is developed by the auxiliary and the public policy official with support from the educator and womar coordinator in various areas: networks, tables, circles of dialoge and participation in local institutional, organizational and regional authorities, which are strategic alliances. 

Education Area. 

It technically depends on the Department for Education and promotion and it developeds through two components: the formal education and citizenship education. 
The first relates to the promotion, dissemination and outreach on human rights to state institutions, while public education refers to community work and civil society organizations. Each auxiliary has, at least, an educator, and some also have two or three educational outreach workers, those who favor local education and promotion of human rights, forstering a culture of peace. 

Defenders Area. 

They are present in several branch offices: the Office of Woman through a coordinator in charge of caring for the victim, the Advocacy of Indigenous Peoples with an indigenous regional counsel, the Defender of Children and Adolescents by the Municipal Childrens Board. 

The Volunteers:

They can assist in legal, psychological, sociological and pedagogical areas, when your studing you are responsible to protect and disseminate the basic guarentees of children and youth as wel as other vulnerable familiy members, workers and the most vulnerable of the population. In other ways, support the advocacy of each area that requires help.
